Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
Travel Bingo is a road trip game made by Carroll Media, based in Ohio, USA ("we", "us"). The game is designed for families, and we expect children to play it. This policy explains what information the app handles, who it's shared with, and the choices parents have.
The short version
- There are no accounts. We never ask for a name, address or location.
- We ask for a birth year once, to decide whether to show a parent check. Only the result is kept, and only on your device.
- Game progress, settings and custom boards are saved only on your device.
- Ads are limited to family-appropriate, non-personalized ads. We don't track you across apps or websites.
- For younger players, purchases, sharing boards, sending feedback and outside links sit behind a parent check.
Information the app handles
Stored only on your device
Your game progress, settings (such as sound and language) and the custom boards you create stay on your device. We can't see them unless you choose to share a board.
Age question
The first time someone uses a feature that could send information outside the app (purchases, sharing a board, sending feedback or opening an outside link), the app asks for a year of birth. We use the answer only to decide whether to ask for a parent's help first. The app keeps just the result, whether the player is under 13 or not, on the device. The birth year itself isn't stored or sent anywhere.
Shared custom boards
Pro members can share a custom board. When you do, the board's name, squares and icons are uploaded to our database, which is hosted by Supabase, and you get a share code. Anyone who has that code can open the board. Shared boards are deleted automatically after 30 days. We don't attach any identifier, name or device information to a shared board. The app blocks sharing boards that contain email addresses, phone numbers, links or social media handles. Please don't put names or other personal details on a board you share.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. We tell Google that our ads are directed to children and to users under the age of consent, and we request only non-personalized ads rated G. This means Google doesn't use your information to build an advertising profile or show interest-based ads. To deliver an ad, prevent fraud and cap how often an ad appears, Google receives technical data such as the device's IP address, the type of device and operating system, and an advertising identifier. We use these only to support the app's internal operations, as allowed under COPPA. See Google's policies for child-directed apps. Pro members don't see ads.
Purchases (RevenueCat, Apple, Google)
Subscriptions are processed by the App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to check whether a device has an active subscription. RevenueCat receives a random app-generated ID, purchase receipts and basic device information. It doesn't receive your name or payment details.
App updates (Expo)
The app checks Expo's update service for bug fixes. That request includes technical details such as the app version, platform and IP address.
Camera
If you scan a board's QR code, the camera is used only to read the code. Images are processed on the device and are never saved or sent anywhere.
Feedback
"Send Feedback" opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. We receive only what you choose to send, including your email address. We use it only to respond to you.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
We don't knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what's described above. Device identifiers and IP addresses are used only to deliver contextual ads, check subscriptions, deliver updates and keep the app working. They're never used for behavioral advertising or to build a profile of a child. Features that could send information outside the app (sharing, feedback, purchases and outside links) first ask for a year of birth. Anyone who may be under 13 then needs an adult to answer a question before continuing.
Parents can contact us at ryan@carrollmedia.dev to ask what information we hold, to have it deleted, or to stop further collection. Shared boards aren't linked to a person, so we may need the share code to find a specific board. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device.
How long we keep information
- Shared boards: deleted automatically 30 days after sharing.
- Feedback emails: kept only as long as needed to respond, and deleted within 12 months.
- Data held by Google, RevenueCat, Apple and Expo: kept according to their own retention policies.
Security
Data sent between the app and our service providers is encrypted in transit. Shared boards can only be looked up by their exact code. They can't be listed or browsed, and they can't be edited after they're shared.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and California, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, or to object to how it's used. We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email ryan@carrollmedia.dev.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If a change affects how we handle children's information, we'll get any parental consent the law requires before the change takes effect.
